CEO of leading makeup brand Huda Beauty, Huda Kattan has been one of the celebrities that have been at the forefront of expressing solidarity with the Palestinian plight, taking a firm stance on the ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza and the West Bank.
‘P@!*st!ne has changed our hearts forever. I no longer desire materialistic things. I now beg Allah for strong Imaan. We have everything but in reality we are so poor’, wrote the Iraqi-American makeup guru Huda Kattan.
Earlier, Kattan posted about the humanitarian crisis in the occupied territories, stating that Israelis worldwide, who are fans of Kattan and her products, may no longer support her due to her choice to highlight the struggles in Gaza. Many people voiced their displeasure, warning that the choice would have a detrimental impact on the company’s stock, and attacked Kattan for endorsing what they called “murder.”
As a response to the criticism, Kattan maintained her position, saying, “I don’t want blood money,” and she continued to speak out against Israeli control of Palestinian territory, citing incidents such as the May 2021 escalation in the Al-Aqsa compound.
Kattan has also called out fake celebrity humanitarians for not speaking up for Palestine, using her platform to amplify the suffering of Palestinians. Additionally, she mentioned on her Instagram that she no longer criticizes materialistic things and prayed for strong Imaan (faith).
I’m so proud of everyone bringing awareness to Palestine and the injustices happening there. I’m seeing mainstream media, slowly change their tone, because they know they are being discredited by social media. Thanks to you. #FreeGaza #FreePalestine
