Doctor Bahu has reached the crossroads that the viewers have been expecting for a while. Dr. Farheen (Saba Hamid) has put her foot down over the patriarchal setup in the Dr. Shahnawaz (Shezad Nawaz) universe. Facing her husband’s views, Farheen has ultimately given up on presenting herself as an enabler of misogyny to please her husband; no longer staking the lives of her children to boost his ego.
Spending her life as a puppet to her husband’s command, seeing her sons against one another became the moment for her to step up. Giving up being the puppet in her husband’s show, she chose to mend things with her sons and be a shield for the daughters-in-law. In a heated argument, she confronts Shahnawaz’s inability to understand his family and his constant urge to prove himself right. She tells him that he can no longer control her life, and she would not allow him to do the same for her sons.
As she breaks free from her cage, she becomes the solace her daughters-in-law need; she comforts Minha (Hajra Yamin) as she fights for her freedom and supports Saaniya (Kubra Khan) in pursuing her dreams. She pushes Saaniya to pursue her career with Dr. Rubina (Atiqa Odho) that she gave up to please her father-in-law. In a heartfelt conversation with Saaniya, she acknowledges that, in her quest to please her husband, she had been giving space for misogyny to brew in the household. However, now that she struggles with her life due to cancer, she would not pass with this guilt.
The Doctor Bahu viewers rejoice as Farheen has found her footing and stepped forward as a female character who portrays strength. She not only ensures that Saaniya pursues her career but also confronts Shahnawaz when he pushes household responsibilities onto her.
