‘Happy Birthday Lala’ trends on Twitter as Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi celebrates his birthday on Monday, March 1, with fans and followers celebrating the cricketing star’s day.
Touched by all the love, the cricketer also took to Twitter to thank his well wishers, “Thank you very much for all the lovely birthday wishes – 44 today! My family and my fans are my biggest assets. Really enjoying my stint with Multan and hope to produce match winning performances for all MS fans,” Afridi wrote on Twitter.

As birthday wishes poured in, once again a debate also sparked regarding the sportsman’s age. Afridi’s real age has been an amusing topic of discussion in the cricket fraternity since many years now. On Monday, Afridi’s tweet started another debate. According to the International Cricket Council, Afridi was born on March 1, 1980, which means he is 41 now. However, the Pakistan star’s tweet led to a wide range of reactions on social media.
Pakistan journalist Danyal Rasool wished the cricket superstar on his birthday, pointing out the argument over Afridi’s actual age. “Happy birthday to Shahid Afridi. We have his age @ESPNcricinfo as 41, his autobiography says 46, and now we have 44!” he wrote.
