Karachi is drowning and experiencing some unprecedented rainfall this year. Flooded streets and submerged cars are causing a havoc in the city. Over 90 people have lost their lives in the last 3 days. Senator Murtaza Wahab announced on twitter that “This year Karachi has received unprecedented rainfall. Total rainfall in August so far has been recorded at 345 MM (PAF Faisal Base) which is highest since the year 1931.” The Met department has said that the trend will continue for another 2 days in Karachi. Speaking to the media on a visit to Share Faisal on Tuesday evening, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said I have declared an emergency in view of the prevailing situation….. We stand with the people in this time of difficulty. People are posting on social media pictures of submerged cars and damaged houses.
