England’s captain may have been a favorite on the field but now he is a favorite all over as he announces to donate his match fees for the series in Pakistan for the flood appeal.
According to the World Bank, flood damages and economic losses are over USD 30 billion and reconstruction needs are over USD 16 billion. The floods affected 33 million people and more than 1730 lost their lives. With many pushed closer to the poverty line, Pakistan is in dire need of donations to help the affected victims.
Ben Stokes announcement is not only a great gesture but also a reminder for all of us that the flood victims are very much in need of our help. A month ago we saw how every post was about the plight of the victims yet a month later everyone seems to have forgotten the cause.
According to Ben’s announcement he feels the game of Cricket has given him alot and he wants to give back to the society in ways that are beyond Cricket. He also hoped that his donation could help rebuild the victims most affected by the floods.
