“When two human beings are together, it is not possible that they don’t disagree. Sp when you start disagreeing, that’s where the conflict rises. At times, one of the partner’s doesn’t understand that. So the other person has to be the wiser one at that moment to retreat and don’t take the fight further.”

Usman Peerzada married acclaimed actress and television hostess Samina Peerzada in 1975, with whom he shares two children. He reflected on how the two of them have had fights, and both of them have taken turns to be the wiser person to retreat and let the matter die rather than fuel it.

“If you don’t have this balance then the marriage won’t work,” continued Usman. “It will last but you will be tolerating each other for the sake of your children.”

The ‘Sukoon’ actor went on to stress that the biggest happiness in a marriage is when the couple become each others best friends. He revealed the two of them had not had children in the first twelve years of their marriage, so they learned how to cope with each other in order to make their relationship work.

“Love simmers out after the first few years. Another feeling erupts afterwards called ownership or knowing each other. Then the children arrive and another kind of emotion then comes up. We didn’t have children for twelve years so we only had each other. So we understood each other and we made it work.”
