As Dar-e-Nijaat progresses, the plot deepens the relationship between Zaryab (Dur-e-Fishan Saleem) and Zamil (Nameer Khan) as they move to the United States together for higher studies. Backed by his insecurity about not being admitted into Harvard with his girlfriend, his shift to religion is the only upper hand he has over her. His desire to compete with Abu Bakr (Sheheryar Munnawar) and his constant inner battle are being satisfied by his renewed faith. While he becomes a practicing Muslim, the judgment he carries for his non-practicing partner takes away the soul from his efforts.
As he walks into a nightclub, he displays his lack of self-control; however, he continues to blame his company rather than take accountability for his actions; he treats religion as an escape from reality, which portrays Zamil as arrogant and narcissistic. While he used to control her actions by emotional blackmail, he now has hung a sword of judgment over her, blaming her for his shortcomings. In the intense conversation about faith, Zaryab calls him out for becoming arrogant after he has gotten closer to faith. The faith that is supposed to make him humble has made him put himself on a higher pedestal and judge others.

The debate around Zaryab and Zamil’s relationship is not new; however, his sudden shift to religion and his exploiting it against his partner has become this week’s Dar-e-Nijaat highlight. Viewers have taken to social media to express their feelings about Zamil’s sense of entitlement and Zaryab’s conflicted emotions. Commenting on how Zamil has weaponized his faith against his girlfriend and is putting her through torment, an X user posted:
There’s a fine line between finding faith and weaponizing it.Zamil’s newfound religiosity has lessened his humility rather than deepened it.He’s barely begun practicing, yet he’s already judging her from a moral high ground,as if piety is a competition he’s already won#DareNijaat pic.twitter.com/cqZZZNt01H

Stating that what was supposed to make him calm made him rude, a user added:
#DareNijaat
Deen is supposed to make you kind, not rude. Zaryab may be blind in love and not really practicing Islam, but she is right about this. Zamil is becoming something else he didn’t help Zaryab with luggage , argued with her, and judged her.— ♑️ (@xebu7) August 28, 2026
Elaborating how misled Zamil is in his walk towards faith, a netizen said:
Zamil has completely took it wrong how to be a practising Muslim! It isn’t just about praying Namaz! It’s about being kind, compassionate towards others, Zaryab said that right he has become rude! N if he wants to compete with Abubakr on this he’s clearly not winning#darenijaat

Calling out his hypocrisy, how he believes that Zaryab is the hurdle while he is living with her of his own will in the US, a netizen added:
Zamil is a bloody hypocrite!!
Bro just started praying five times a day two days ago and suddenly he’s a practicing Muslim while being in a relationship, living with a girl without marriage and having a physical relationship outside marriage. Apparently that’s his definition of… pic.twitter.com/7r1QMFF1Oi

Endorsing a similar idea, a user stated that Zamil is lost in his quest to find peace through religion, a user stated:
Islam says lead by example. Show beauty through action & people will be drawn to your good character – & want to better themselves as a result. Zamil represents a man trying to find purpose, but LOST. Represents that confused section of society which is all too real. #DarENijaat https://t.co/BTO72IjMMV

Another X user pointed out his entitlement and stated that Islam does not teach one to judge others; they posted:
I get Zaamil is struggling but he needs to learn Islam is not just worship but also good manners he is still on a journey but you cant demean someone coz they didnt change their outlook seeing you were the same. They actually need to end this for both their sanity #Darenijaat

Commenting on Zamil’s unrealistic expectations from Zaryab, a user added:
Zamil thinks Zaryab is being an obstacle to his newfound deen,But how does he expect her to instantly adjust to such a sudden change in his entire worldview? They had a certain kind of equation before, nobody can just adapt to such a drastic shift overnight like magic#DareNijaat pic.twitter.com/SBA4G6hSGv
