Nadia Khan addresses controversy on Ramazan show, said most of the trolling was done by ‘paid accounts’

Host and actress Nadia Khan was a guest on the Geo news talk show ‘Hasna Mana Hai’ with Tabish Hashmi where she addressed some of the backlash regarding her Ramazan show.

Responding to this, the ‘Dolly Darling’ actress said because of social media there is a lot of ‘moral policing’ on the internet. At the same time television channels are in competition trying to oust each other. Nadia Khan said most of the trolling she faced in that time was because she was being targeted by critics who were paid to do so.

“Because of social media there is a ‘moral police’. Television channels are also actively in competition against each other. When a new show begins- and this is something people have told me-these critics are paid to troll me on the internet.”

Nadia Khan joked that she was urged to fork out some money to target these critics but she refused to take part in such petty behaviour.

Nadia Khan addresses backlash to her show ‘Kya Drama Hai’ and why it was important that such a platform existed to ensure better quality dramas were created.

Khan said she had critiqued dramas and films for 15 years before she became an actress herself. She spoke about how she was also a part of ‘Lollywood Top 10’, where she would watch films before their release and provide a review.

Addressing whether her colleagues get angry over some of the reviews Khan provides on ‘Kya Drama Hai’, the actress said she understands that everyone doesn’t like criticism.

“When it comes to the artist, I make sure to give them a lot of praise,” said Nadia Khan. “But I am quite harsh when it comes to the director and the writer. But I love dramas, and even more now after this show.”

Nadia Khan revealed that a lot of actors watch ‘Kya Drama Hai’ and call her to send praises over some of the topics she picks up. The morning show host recalled how an actor called to thank her after she pointed out in a segment how this actor played a major role in the drama but was not present on the thumbnail.

“This show is bringing a lot of positive changes because now that everyone is watching it,” said Khan. “Because of the fact that a lot of people are watching people, show runners are more mindful about the kind of dramas they make because they’re aware of the fact that critics are watching and will point it out.”
