Acknowledged Pakistani actress Sania Saeed known for her powerful performances yet again impresses audiences with her insight and intelligence in a recent podcast. The actress opined amongst other things on feminism, explaining how, contrary to popular opinion, the ideology is meant to serve both men and women.

Speaking about how the concept has been distorted and has changed meaning in mainstream culture, Saeed asserted, “There is this flawed idea that feminism is a battle between men and women. It is not! It includes the man who cannot sleep at night because his daughter is out in an extremely unsafe environment! Ask him, he cannot sleep at night. So the point infact is, for everyone to work together towards creating a safe society for his daughter. When she steps out of the house, she should be considered to be a daughter of the entire neighborhood, the entire city and even country.”

Elaborating on the same idea, Sania Saeed said there is a need to change the current structures of society for the mental and physical well-being of both men and women. “It is also about the driver who keeps adjusting his rearview mirror to stare at women. You think he is a normal person? This is the behavior of a disturbed individual! We need to work for him too”, she said.
