‘Kabuli Pulao‘ lead Sabeena Farooq appears in an interview with host Maliha Rehman, where she shared that without a doubt Indian fans appreciate her characters more, pick up on nuances more, and don’t hate on the antagonistic characters she plays like Pakistani fans.
Praising Indian audiences for their receptivity, she said that its sad that she does not get the same kind of response from the people of her own country who often end up hating on negative roles instead of appreciating how its often the dark characters who add flavor and layers to a story. Indian audiences on the other hand she said are unbelievably advanced in their understanding of culture, good work and art, they have owned Haya’s character, she said.
Sabeena Farooq joked that she often gets a lot of flak from Pakistanis for openly saying this, and many respond by saying that she is dying to go work in India, but sadly, its the truth! The actress recently broke into the scene with her stellar performance as Barbeena in hit drama Kabuli Pulao and as Hayaa in drama Tere Bin.
