In an era marked by global conflicts and the constant struggle for peace, the role of cinema in shaping public perception cannot be overstated. Movies have the power to influence minds, foster empathy, and contribute to a more compassionate society. However, it is disheartening to observe instances where leading actors, fully aware of the impact their work can have, participate in films that propagate hate and negativity.

Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone has met with criticism for its problematic and biased narration from Pakistan. Multiple celebrities have expressed their disappointment over the questionable themes and issues raised in the trailer.

Hania Amir among many other celebrities remarked ” So sad and unfortunate to know that there are artists out there in this day and age who are aware of the power that the cinema holds and still go ahead and feed the riff between the two countries”.

Actor Asad Siddiqui also took to Instagram to question what is the need to sell a story of hatred? He also questioned why the global medium of movies is continued to be used for selling ‘cheap’ and ‘false’ narratives.

Actress Zara Noor Abbas also released a video where she talked about Fighter as well. “You can actually make patriotic stories without putting any country down. You don’t have to hate on Pakistan, America or any other country just to prove to your audience that you made a patriotic film” shared the actress.

Actress Hirra Khan also remarked ” Sad that such big superstars need to bash Pakistan to make your movies work-i feel sorry for you guys”

In a world grappling with the consequences of hatred and conflict, the entertainment industry should strive to be a force for positive change. It is regrettable to witness actors contributing to the proliferation of animosity in society by endorsing narratives that propagate hate.
