Former Minister of Information, Fawad Hussain Chaudry, has landed in hot water, yet again, for his misogynistic take on women in the police force. Calling women useless as cops, he took to X criticizing Islamabad’s newly appointed Chief Traffic Officer. He added that the police force is a bad career option, nonetheless. He posted:
Why women are opting to become police officers? Most of them are completely useless as cops, also it’s terrible career choice even otherwise…. https://t.co/Kd1cfDuWEA

The internet was soon to pick it up and has not taken it well, as questioning women’s presence at higher ranks in this day and age can only be deemed as discrimination. Journalist Hamid Mir called Fawad Chaudry’s statement a representation of male chauvinism. He added that the same men who feel superior to women can be seen bowing down to female diplomats. He posted:
This is called Male chauvinism. Some men believe that they are naturally superior to women in intelligence, ability, or importance. I have seen same kind of Pakistani men bowing down in front of female diplomats. https://t.co/7nADSeagCs

Critical of Fawad Chaudry’s statement, another user called him a male chauvinist and honored all women in the force. They posted:
The same person who used to run in fear of the police, is now lecturing women on whether they should join the police or not. Male chauvinist. More power to our female police officers and constables 🇵🇰 https://t.co/bTDou1fBJV pic.twitter.com/4Dgmiw0h17

Calling his statement misogynistic and a display of double standards, journalist Nazrana Yousafzai posted:
It’s interesting that you’re usually the first to point out anti-women practices in Pashtun tribal culture. Do you see how misogynistic your statement here is? https://t.co/bSygCsOVVJ

Stating that women have outperformed men in several fields, a netizen added:
Men dominated positions of power for centuries and still gave us corruption, abuse, and ineptitude. Women leaders/officers have already outperformed men in ethics, results, and integrity, worldwide. Here, gender competence isn’t up for debate, but your relevance is 🙂 https://t.co/MCj3dd6dSk

Pointing out how no research backs his statement, a netizen said that it is the inability to stand women succeeding. They posted:
“Women are useless as cops” ! Says @fawadchaudhry . Sir, do you have any specific research to quote ? Or is it your inability to withstand women rising in all spheres. https://t.co/IWvsX59oFb

Journalist, Saddia Mazhar posted:
Women constitute nearly 50% of Pakistan’s population and have every right to pursue any profession or leadership role based on their qualifications, skills, and aspirations. Suggesting otherwise reflects a deeply rooted patriarchal mindset rather than any objective reality.

One X user added that the country’s problems will be solved if women are handed top positions and posted:
Lol, women make up 50% of the country’s population. That’s a very misogynistic statement. They have the right to pursue the jobs they want. Statistically, women are less corrupt than men, and they perform their jobs well. All our issues would be solved if all top positions in… https://t.co/BrPC6IoMfW

Another added that without women in uniforms, women-centric issues will be widely dismissed and posted:
Without women in uniform, the system would be hell for women. There would be dismissed rape cases, ignored pleas for help, and physical misconduct. All that we see regularly. https://t.co/c2JC46rqz8
