After Prime Minister Imran Khan‘s recommendation and PTV’s decision to telecast the famous Turkish series ‘Ertugrul’ in Urdu dubbing, the serial has become one of the most watched shows of Ramzan 2020 in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan essentially recommended the show for it’s brilliant teachings on Islam and went on to share his views publicly in a conference stating, “I want our children and youth to know… that we also have our own culture.”

The series, which is also known as the Turkish version of the famous “Game of Thrones”, is set in 13th century Anatolia, prior to the establishment of the Ottoman Empire. The story of the show is a tale of the struggle of Ertugrul Gazi, who’s descendants go on to rule the Ottoman Empire as it expanded across Anatolia and Thrace.

Recently, we saw a massive rise in social media activity concerning the show, Netflix also showed Ertugrul as the number trending show in Pakistan.

Celebrities have also spoken about Ertugrul, especially Hamza Ali Abbasi who appreciated the Turkish production show for using television righteously to spread the word of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the actor shared stills from the serial of a scene where a Hadith in light of the equal treatment of one’s children is being shared.
