Iconic 90’s pop singer Ali Haider made a guest appearance at a podcast where he reminisced about his career and some of the biggest hits he sang like ‘Purani Jeans’, ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’, and on how much celebrities were exploited by companies with the low pay they received.

The ‘Tum Say Kehna Tha’ singer opened up about how he, and fellow singers Sajjad Ali and Junaid Jamshed, decided to stop settling for low compensation while they met up at the ‘Tum Naraz Ho’ singer’s house. At the time despite making such popular hits like ‘Babia’, Haider shockingly revealed they were only paid around Rs 15 to 20 thousand for shows.

“We all knew that the public demand for our work was there, yet we weren’t compensated accordingly,” recalled the ‘Purani Jeans’ singer. “So, the three of us sat together one day at Sajjad Ali’s house and promised each other that we wouldn’t work for low compensation packages anymore.”

“For a while we sat at home because nobody booked us for a month,” the singer recalled. “We thought all of us made the wrong decision. Then suddenly we got better offers for shows and the money kept increasing. Other new musicians who were receiving Rs 10,000 at the time began asking for more fee and they got it.”
