While we continue to measure hemlines of abused women, the count of child victims of sexual crimes continues to grow in the land of morality. Falling short of excuses, Pakistan has reported three cases of gruesome sexual assault and murders in Gujranwala and Karachi the past few weeks. From Gujranwala’s 7-year-old Muntaha to Karachi’s 3-year-old Kulsoom and 6-year-old Wali, all children-sexually assaulted and murdered!
With wailing parents over dead bodies, lives are lost too early to a man’s inability to keep it in their pants. The incidents are not only an elaborate look into the frustration that leads men to commit these crimes but also into how society continues to enable these crimes. With one shot down and others arrested, the process of justice remains delayed; the highest pornography watching country continues to fail its children.

We constantly claim of harboring morality, however, the overwhelming disgust continues to pour out with these crimes. Each case, infuriating reactions, another case registered, another arrest made; yet the count continues to grow. The delayed justice, the faulty law enforcement, only ensures the liberty of criminals every passing day. In our attempt to ensure moral conduct, we have been hiding away from basic sex education, which only ends up harboring frustrated individuals targeting the vulnerable lot.
With the nation pleading to hang child rapists to death, we continue to remain oblivious to how we create such criminals. If its our inablity to have difficult conversations at puberty or the capacity to sexualise minors, all is a blur. As some individuals try to grasp the core of the criminal mindset, others only demand one thing; hang them to death!
