A shocking and bone chilling incident just took place today morning in the Orangi Town neighbourhood of Karachi. A 64 year old old man came forward to the police and confessed to killing his wife. The police identified the man as Asghar Ali, allegedly claiming to be a retired army officer who has served in East Pakistan. Asghar surrendered to the police on the morning of Thursday June 4th, claiming to have killed his wife with an iron rod because she refused sexual relations with him.
His wife has been identified as Asna Begum, who was found dead with signs of severe torture on her body. Rescue officials reached the scene and shifted her body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities and a post-mortem.
The police said that the evidence was collected from their house, while statements from their neighbours and family members are also being recorded as part of the investigation. The exact sequence of events leading up to this heinous crime is being examined.
