Actress Sajal Aly recently gave an interview to Fuchsia Magazine on an event celebrating the launch of her new drama ‘Zard Patton Ka Bun’. She spoke about how society pressurises women to prioritise marriage, but never tells them to pick men who can become supportive partners to help them accomplish their dreams.

“Since our childhood, society has consistently told us that marriage is ultimately the end goal. You can get a Masters degree or a Phd but marriage is absolutely important,” said the actress. “Marriage is a beautiful thing, but only when you have a supportive partner in your life who is prepared to help you the same way Meenu’s father did, then I don’t think marriage would ever be considered to be a burden.”

Sajal went ahead to point out that society has distorted the concept of marriage which is why so many women are choosing to stay independent. “It’s fine if you have the right partner who is there for you then it’s fine. I said this in another interview that life should not just be about marriage, but it can become a beautiful part of your life if you have a partner who is there to support you in every way.”
