Maulana Tariq Jamil’s son Yousaf Jamil recently clarifies reason for brother’s demise in a video message, after rumors surfaced regarding Asim Jamil being assassinated.
Posting an online video, Maulana Yousaf Jamil confirmed that his elder brother Asim Jamil had committed suicide due to depression. Yousaf Jamil explained that his brother had been battling severe depression since childhood and for the past six months he had been receiving electric shocks as part of the treatment.

He explained that Asim who was alone at home, used a guard’s gun to take his own life passing away in Punjab’s Talamba on Sunday evening. Initially it was claimed that Asim was assassinated but Tariq Jamil took to X (previously Twitter) to confirm that it was an ‘accidental death.’

Maulana Yousaf Jamil further explained his brother committed suicide by snatching a gun from the security guard as he was alone at home on Sunday, ruling out the possibility of any enmity as being the cause of death of his brother.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan Sohail Chaudhary said that Maulana Asim Jamil was shot in the chest. In the CCTV footage, the son of a religious scholar can be seen shooting himself in the chest, he added. RPO Multan further said that the deceased was in the gymnasium at the time of his death.
