Actress and writer Amar Khan, recently appeared in a candid conversation on @mominasmixedplate where she opened up about life, success and failure, her resilience through it all and her perspective on all of it.

Talking about her most recent project #DumMastam, and her success not only as an actor but also as a script writer, Amar reflected on what she thought was the reason for all her accomplishments. She said perhaps an important cause for her success has been that she never used any of her constraints or obstacles as an excuse for what she could or could not achieve in life.

The actor shared that she had always wanted to go to acting school but because no such thing existed in Pakistan, she ended up in Film School where she would create her own films.

A strong advocate of staying connected to one’s roots, Amar shared that the opening scene of her film #DamMastam depicts a festive Eid mood- typical to traditional Lahori culture, particularly the inner parts of the city such as Mozang, KrishanNagar etc where she grew up. This kind of depiction of the true Lahori culture and spirit is barely ever seen in Pakistani films nowadays, she said- which is why they end up seeming like a copy of Bollywood.
