Desi twitter has a new niche these days which is the farshi shalwar. Every wear you look, every influencer or model seems to have adorned this ensemble and we can’t lie we’re also obsessed with them since they elevate any simple look into a symbol of grace and poise. Even celebrity’s seem to have been roped into the trend with Ayeza Khan hilariously adding in how she had never given up on the trend.

But the real question that has taken over the internet is: who has brought back frashi shalwar’s into popularity? Popular folklore and history account Folkloristan gave credit to the iconic fashion name Hussain Rehar for bringing this silhouette back into style, which were once all the rage of the 90’s.

But social media users seem to widely disagree with the account, as they claim the real queen of farshi shalwars is no one other than Sadaf Kanwal. And we can agree, no one carries the trend like her.

“Say whatcha want about her but it was this queen who truly brought them mainstream,” one user wrote.

But another person has stepped into claim that not Sadaf, it is Mahira Khan who deserves to get some credit for bringing back the iconic shalwar back into the spotlight. The ‘Humsafar’ actress had collaborated alongside with the fashion brand Iqbal Hussain for a campaign shoot back in 2022 where she was spotted wearing the gorgeous ensemble.

So who do you think owns the farshi shalwar trend? Do let us know in the comments!
