Does it seem today like younger stars are more selfish, and entitled than the older generation of actors we’ve witnessed?
Veteran actress Laila Zuberi was a guest on the late night talk show ‘Mazaaq Raat’ where she opened up about her frustration with young female actors today.
The ‘Jafaa’ actress said many young actresses today were ‘divas’ because they are looking for a quick way to rise to fame, rather than work hard for it. She re-called an instance when the lead actress was late to a shot, and because of her the rest of the cast had to be kept waiting along with the production team.
Laila Zuberi also recalled how after shooting is wrapped up, and the team provides a car to everyone in order to drop off actors to their homes. It would be the younger actors who would demand a sole ride back to their homes.
“Some people think that unless we don’t throw tantrums or become a nuisance on set, people won’t realise that we’re the bigger stars on set,” Laila Zuberi made a veiled barb about younger actresses, calling them ‘divas’.
The veteran star said this was a big difference in the stars today and from back in her time, who were obsessed with the work and did not care about becoming famous. “I don’t see this hard working trait among young stars today,” Laila said.
Laila is not the sole actor who has complained about the lack of professional ethics and manners present in younger actors. Previously it was actor Fahad Mustafa, who spoke at length about the issue young actors present on film sets which is why he has refused to work in dramas and films.

The actor was present on the talk show ‘Gup Shup’ with Vasay Chaudhary, sharing that it was easy to work with people like Mahira, Humayun and Mehwash because they were professionals with whom he had already done work before. With younger stars, it was quite hard since they throw tantrums on set, which ruins the mood and makes it difficult to complete a scene.
