On 28th August, two people were killed from electrocution as heavy rainfall continues to fall in Karachi. According to rescuers, one of the victims was 40 year old Haroon who suffered an electric shock at a residential apartment in the Jamshed Quaters and died on the spot. His body was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital in Karachi.

The other victim was 25 year old Zaman Zulfiqar.

The continuous rainfall in Karachi has left the city with numerous issues, which could further worsen as the Met department officials fear the city is facing a threat of urban flooding.

Speaking to Dawn, officials said their models indicated a strong monsoon system was reaching close to the coast of the Arabian Sea. “As of now there is no possibility that it will lose its intensity. In fact, it would likely intensify,” responded Chief Meteorologist Dr Sardar Sarfaraz.

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab  reported that the Karachi Meteropolitan Corporation (KMC) was working around the clock to take immediate measures to tackle the issues caused by heavy rainfall. He said staff members were present on main roads as well as low-lying areas to implement water drainage systems.
