Twitter reacts to Shoaib Akhtar quitting TV show after being insulted by PTV anchor

Twitteri show their support for cricket legend and former Pakistan team fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar after he quit and walked out of a live TV show after being ‘insulted’ by PTV anchor Dr Nauman Niaz.

Following Pakistan’s win over New Zealand on late Tuesday night, a post-match analysis was being aired on the show “Game on Hai” on PTV Sports, when the spat between Shoaib Akhtar and anchor Dr Nauman Niaz took place. The discussion panel included guests such as West Indies batting legend Sir Vivian Richards, former England captain David Gower, former Pakistan women’s captain Sana Mir and former fast bowler Umar Gul.

During the show, Dr Nauman Niaz and speed-bowler Shoaib Akhtar engaged in an argument involving Pakistani cricketer Haris Rauf. Akhtar. Leading from this, anchor Niaz referred to Akhtar as being ‘oversmart’, asking him to leave the show. What followed was Akhtar quitting and walking off the Pakistan Television (PTV) show.

The brawl resulted in a social media storm as fans of Shoaib Akhtar expressed their support for the cricketing legend, with the #ShaoibAkhtar currently trending on Twitter.

Twitterati also criticized anchor Nauman Niaz for his abrasive demeanor.

 Many celebrities also reacted to what had happened, expressing their concern over the entire episode and the way Shoaib had been treated.

Ali Zafar wrote: “We must learn to respect our national heroes & each other generally.”

Waqar Zaka also took to Twitter to express his sentiments.
