Twitteri show their support for cricket legend and former Pakistan team fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar after he quit and walked out of a live TV show after being ‘insulted’ by PTV anchor Dr Nauman Niaz.
Following Pakistan’s win over New Zealand on late Tuesday night, a post-match analysis was being aired on the show “Game on Hai” on PTV Sports, when the spat between Shoaib Akhtar and anchor Dr Nauman Niaz took place. The discussion panel included guests such as West Indies batting legend Sir Vivian Richards, former England captain David Gower, former Pakistan women’s captain Sana Mir and former fast bowler Umar Gul.
During the show, Dr Nauman Niaz and speed-bowler Shoaib Akhtar engaged in an argument involving Pakistani cricketer Haris Rauf. Akhtar. Leading from this, anchor Niaz referred to Akhtar as being ‘oversmart’, asking him to leave the show. What followed was Akhtar quitting and walking off the Pakistan Television (PTV) show.

The fact that this embarrassment is happening on money from electricity bill of each and every Pakistani is even more infuriating. Is our money so cheap to be wasted on charlatans like Nauman Niaz? https://t.co/qAMfywqjV1

We must learn to respect our national heroes & each other generally. We are entitled to our opinions but the same can be expressed politely in a more cultured fashion with the right choice of words to avoid hurting others’ feelings. @shoaib100mph you’re a legend. #shoaibakhter pic.twitter.com/M4oZBXPfC6
