When was the last time we watched a Pakistani drama that didn’t demean or abuse the women it portrayed? Two months into 2022 and yet every single mainstream popular drama like “Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay”, “Aye Mushtak e Khaas” or “Aitebaar”, all these dramas are centered around treating women in horrific and abusive manners. And we need to question why is it still acceptable for our dramas to keep regressing while the rest of the world keeps moving on.
Yesterday, Twitter was horrified by another show that featured abusive treatment of women. A clip from the drama “Mein Aisi Kyun Hoon” showed the female lead and her child are being abused by her husband for being ugly only because of the fact that they have curly hair.

Twitter users had to point out that why are dramas consistently centered around the message that women should mold themselves according to a man’s desires? Why can’t we appreciate Pakistani women for being independent and happy with the way that they are?
Why is the woman always so defenseless and cannot speak a word but the guy can eloquently go on and on…. What BS! https://t.co/XqTT2hPT9k

what fresh hell is this?
do the cast crew, production staff and financiers of these garbage have no shame? no guilt? no responsibility?do they not realize what sheer nonsense they are putting out on tv screens?
why are they spreading mental retardation on a mass scale?

Writer: We have shamed women on everything they do, don’t do, say, don’t say, eat, don’t eat, think, don’t think, choose or don’t choose. What the hell did we miss?

Sometimes I wonder if directors deliberately add such ridiculous scenes just to have their dramas trend on social media. Because I honestly see no other reason for this level of stupidity. https://t.co/R2LTZTZCbN
