Nothing escapes the eye of the eagle-eyed netizens and this time it’s the upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer Bollywood film Raksha Bandhan that seems to have ‘borrowed heavily’ from the Lollywood film Load Wedding.
Recently, the trailer of the family entertainer Raksha Bandhan was launched, which has been directed by Aanand L. Rai. Akshay also shared the trailer on social media platforms. Since the trailer gave glimpses into the plot which revolves around how a brother gives his all to get his four sisters married, netizens could not help but point out the uncanny similarity of the film with Nabeel Qureshi’s Pakistani production Load Wedding.

Imitation is flattery? Because this isn’t the first time they’ve copied Nabeel’s work. pic.twitter.com/nwNCgHvjX0

The 2018 Pakistani romantic comedy film Load Wedding, is mutually written by the director Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza featuring Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat.
Moreover, this is not the first time that Nabeel’s work has been plagiarized by Bollywood film makers. “Previously also Nabeel’s film #ActorInLaw’s famous “electricity case” was taken and plastered in Batti Gul Meter Chalu.”

Our very own @nabeelqureshi – @fizza999 get copied in Bollywood again! #AkshayKumar replaces @fahadmustafa26, @faizahasann‘s Baby Baji is divided into 4 sisters while #BhumiPednekar is being @MehwishHayat. Last time it was Shahid Kapur’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu, now #RakshaBandhan! https://t.co/5jYsjsxUyx

Although, both Lollywood and Bollywood have been ‘borrowing’ or copying artistic content from each other since many years, recently this trend of ‘plagiarism’ has grown stronger from the end of Bollywood. Even well-established directors such as Karan Johar, and recording labels such as T-series have lately been involved in cases of blatant duplication of content, without giving credit where it is due and Pakistani artists are not happy!
