Jawad Ahmad beats LESCO officials after his wife’s beauty salon was caught stealing electricity

Pop singer turned politician Jawad Ahmad was recorded physically attacking workers from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) after his wife’s beauty salon was accused of electricity theft.

LESCO officials discovered that the salon’s electric meter had been tampered with during their routine inspection in Johar Town. Viral videos showed Jawad Ahmad arriving at the scene where he thrashed officers and forcibly took the tampered meter from them before leaving with his wife.

After this incident, LESCO had disconnected the electric supply and submitted an official complaint to the Nawab Town Police Station.

Speaking to Dawn, the LESCO Airline subdivision SDO Muhammad Asghar recalled the incident by saying that his team had discovered the tampered meter on Wednesday evening. The ‘Bin Tere’ singer arrived with three men on the scene who started quarrelling with them. According to Asghar, two officers were beaten up.

“When I found the situation turning ugly, I called the police who drove all of us to the police station where we asked the police to make the singer return us the meter and pay the detection bill. We also asked police to register a case but to no avail,” he recalled.

“Police rather asked us to settle the issue there and then and did not register the case. I brought this issue to the knowledge of my seniors who approached senior police officials,” the SDO further said.
