In a recent social media video, Bushra Ansari has shared her thoughts on Diljit Dosanjh’s latest film, Satluj, which has been removed from streaming platforms in India due to anti-national sentiments. She stated that she is a fan of Diljit for choosing such projects and being vocal on such serious issues. She said she has been devastated by seeing crimes that had been committed against the Sikh community in India. Taking it to Instagram, she posted:
Bushra Ansari added that she had been aware of the crimes that had been committed; however, she has been shocked that the crimes were committed by their own community. She stated that there was a time when people would die for their country, integrity, and ideology, yet now we can only see such crimes. She said she has been unable to sleep for two days after seeing the atrocities against the Sikh community at that time.

Satluj is a film based on the life of Sikh human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who was tortured and killed by the police in 1995. Jaswant Singh was actively investigating forced disappearances and killings of Sikh youth, accused of being a part of the separatist movement. The film was initially titled Punjab 95 and was blocked from theatrical release by the Indian Film Board for 3 years. The board suggested changing the name to include an additional 130 cuts, which the makers declined. It was then released on Zee 5, an online streaming platform, on July 3, 2026, but was taken down within a day.
