In an interview, Beyond with Behtaaj, Samina Ahmad came to the defense of Pakistani drama plots, stating that not all drama serials need to be centered on social issues. While the stories are primarily entertainment-based and revolve around family dynamics, many address social issues, she stated. She added that even in these entertainment plots, social issues are touched upon.
Samina Ahmad said that many drama serials are made every year, yet not all are hits, nor are they focused on similar issues, nor are they to our taste. She added that Pakistan’s drama industry is diverse, with classic tropes and evolving plots. She added that there are important subjects such as child marriage, child molestation, and women’s empowerment that are given huge consideration while making drama serials.

She added that, over time, the industry is evolving and more interesting storylines are emerging. However, there must be a balance of entertainment and social issues. She added that, along with the plots, the storytelling techniques are evolving as well; as society grows, so does the entertainment industry.
