Does love truly have no boundaries? Pakistani man marries US woman after meeting on PUBG
A Pakistani man from Chitral,23 year old Shahad Hussain married his US-based lover Flores Sarah, who is 18 years old. The two had fallen in love after they met on the popular video game, PUBG.
According to Aaj news, Sarah’s mother had given her consent to the relationship and was also among the close attendees at the nikkah held at the Shah Mosque in Chitral.
A resident of the area confirmed to the outlet that the couple had been in a relationship for over three years before choosing to marry each other.
Is this a sign that we should start abandoning dating apps and look for relationships solely on social media? Because this is not the first case we have seen of how apps like PUBG, Facebook or Snapchat have brought lovers together.
In September 2023, a 35 year old man Naeem Shahzad married 70 year old Canadian woman Mary, after meeting on Facebook. Speaking to Urdu Point, Shahzad revealed the couple had met online in 2012, and had finally tied the knot in 2017.
Another case went viral in July 2023 when 40-year old Rosa from Mexico travelled to KPK to marry her 18-year-old lover Izaz Ali, after the two formed a relationship through Facebook. According to Geo, Rosa had converted to Islam and had adopted the name Ayesha Bibi. The couple had planned on returning to Mexico after Ali completed his matriculation exams.
It also looks like TikTok is the best place to find a soulmate rather than at a dating app. In 2023, KP resident Ikramullah went viral on social media after he married Nicole Iglesias from the USA, after meeting on TikTok.
Aaj News interviewed Ikramullah, who said he met Nicole after she followed him on the video app, and the two used to communicate with the help of Google Translate as she did not speak the local language.
Nicole had travelled to KP and married Ikramullah, she also converted to Islam and took up the name Noreen.
