The Lahore High Court announced today that the Rs 2 billion lawsuit singer and actress Meesha Shafi has filed against Ali Zafar shall continue to proceed in court. Previously, the sessions court had stayed the proceedings and Shafi’s lawyers had filed an appeal in High Court.
Meesha Shafi had previously rejected claims that she was trying to compromise or settle her case with Ali Zafar. In an interview with news reporters outside the Lahore sessions court, the singer said the reports were false:
“I have just faced cross examination in court. These reports are completely baseless.”

Social media reacted with positivity to the news and wished the singer good luck for her case proceedings
This is a MAJOR WIN. The high court has ruled in favor of Meesha Shafi and allowed her defamation case against Ali Zafar to proceed. There was a stay issued on this by the lower court which the LHC has now vacated.

i’m in awe of Meesha Shafi. the way she hasn’t given up & continued to fight is so so so inspiring. from experience i know women don’t even acknowledge, let alone speak up about harassment in most cases. she has given me courage to speak up multiple times. more power to the queen

Congratulations to Meesha Shafi, who has by all accounts faced harassment and has had her family harassed for daring to blame a powerful man of sexual assault- and yet refused to back down.
Such a brave woman https://t.co/8C2im657Bu— Mythili (@MVijay88) January 19, 2022
