Internet disruptions continue across Pakistan, celebrities demand government to fix issue
For the last few days, Pakistanis have seen a rise in internet disruptions as a result of the ongoing PTI protests in Islamabad. Several users reported they were facing difficulties in using social media apps like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram after the government imposed strong security measures in order to curb the protests.
Several celebrities have now voiced their frustration on their social media platforms, reflecting on how the internet shut down across Pakistan is impacting their work and ability to keep a lookout on the ongoing political crisis.
Singer Asim Azhar expressed his vexation in an Instagram post yesterday, saying that he was unable to post an update regarding his work to his fans but has not been able to do so.
“How many combos will we have to install in order to open Instagram? I am confused,” wrote the ‘Habibi’ singer.
The ‘Tera Wo Pyar’ singer also uploaded a video on his Instagram stories sharing how he has received mixed messages from fans in his private DM’s about how internet facilities have been fluctuating across Pakistan
Actress Rabya Kulsoom voiced her anger over the ongoing internet restrictions with a bold statement, writing ‘mardoon aik hi baar’.
Atleast some might find humour in these dark times? Actor Faysal Quraishi had a funny take on what the lagging internet reminded him of and we can also say, too close to home!
Several users have criticised the ongoing internet shutdown as catastrophic as they point out that it is freelancers and working class people who bear the brunt of such decisions because of the opportunities they miss out on.
