Girls education activist Malala Yousafzai has attracted outrage on Twitter after several users criticised her for hiding comments from people urging her to call for an end to the genocide in Gaza.
Malala had posted a tweet on X sending her condolences to the Daily Show host Jon Stewart, who was mourning the death of his dog.
I’m sorry to hear about your loss, @jonstewart. I know Dipper was a very good boy. I’ve gotten over my fear of dogs and I hope you’ll have me back to meet your next pup ❤️🐶 https://t.co/OpFdobSEDO

Several users on Twitter criticised the activist for refusing to use her privilege to shed light on the urgent need to demand the safety and security of women and children in Gaza, and was instead hiding replies from those who were urging her to do so.
does…does she know that we can see the hidden replies?? https://t.co/mfVHESSUQf pic.twitter.com/HgJkSAlFG9

Girly the way you fell off… also why the fk would you hide the comments about Palestine and make them more obvious? So dumb

You honestly surprise me and for all the wrong reasons recently. I’m not saying one loss is smaller than another, but there is no way you were so quiet and politically correct about a whole genocide compared to every other cause you “openly” speak about. Find your consciousness.

In December, Malala was criticised by Internet users for failing to mention the ongoing violence against women and young girls in Gaza in her 21st Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture, where she spoke about recognising the gender apartheid in Afghanistan. The activist had later given an interview to The Associated Press, where she reaffirmed her stance to call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai renewed her call for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war as the Palestinian death toll surpassed 15,000.
