Actresses who earned rave reviews for their outstanding performances in Pakistani dramas this year

In 2024, we got some exceptionally amazing Pakistani dramas that served us with some incredible storytelling as well as intense chemistry between the main leads. We had dramas that ranged from discussing the importance of family planning and educating daughters, breaking toxic patterns and also how important it is for men to be caring and protective of the women in their life

But most importantly 2024 could be titled as the year Pakistani actresses outshone their male counterparts, as we had some exceptional performances by women solely this year. From ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ to ‘Ishq Murshid’ and ‘Noor Jehan’, here are the talented actresses who definitely dazzled the audiences with their outstanding performances this year.

1 Hania Aamir

There is no doubt that Hania proved this year that she earned her way to stardom with her exceptional acting skills as shown in ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’. Her heroine Sharjeena in the drama was beloved for her confidence, her ability to stand up to those who belittled her. But also through Sharjeena and Mustafa’s relationship, we learned that real love isn’t about how much money you make, but how you respect and acknowledge your partner and stick with them through both the bad and the good times in life.

2 Kubra Khan

Pakistani audiences have longed for a drama that did not cater to the stereotypical toxic saas-bahu relationship dynamic, and instead urged women to break free from abusive families by standing on their own feet. Kubra did an exceptional job this year with her performance as Noor Bano in the drama ‘Noor Jehan’, where she embodies this message beautifully. The actress was applauded by audiences for showing that women don’t need to settle for toxic relationships with how she broke away from her venomous mother-in-law, along with this also helped the other women who were being exploited under her control.

3 DureFishan Saleem

Rom com lovers were served with a buffet this year with DureFishan Saleem and Bilal Abbas’s  fiery chemistry in the drama ‘Ishq Murshid’. The actress played the character Shibra in the drama, a headstrong and opinionated woman who had a sharp tongue that didn’t hold back from calling out politicians and public officials for their corruption. Fans especially loved the drama because of the wholesome relationship between Shibra and Shahmeer, the man who loved her so much that he was willing to cosplay a clerk in order to get her and her father’s approval, and even parted ties with his political family because of their illegal activities.

4 Sajal Aly

After ‘Kuch Ankahi’, Sajal came back with a bang this year with the drama ‘Zard Patton Ka Band’ where she played the hard working and head strong woman Meenu, who defied all the odds to study medicine in a small village where women weren’t allowed to pursue education. Social media users praised Aly’s acting and how she brought a rebellious woman like Meenu to life, in the way she remained determined to complete her degree despite coming from an impoverished family and also having strict brothers who pushed for her marriage rather than letting her study.

5 Anmol Baloch

We can’t make this list without mentioning the breakout actress of the year that was Anmol Baloch for her stellar performance in the currently airing drama ‘Iqtidar’. Although it was unnoticed at first, the drama quickly developed a strong fan base on social media for the intense chemistry between the main leads, and especially how users loved the female lead and her witty comebacks. Anmol plays the rebellious Mehru Nisa, a daughter who comes from a middle class family and works to pay her sister’s school fees as well as to provide for her mother. After a shocking incident kills her brother, Mehru is determined to never rest until her brother’s murderer is put behind bars and his family is also destroyed.

After a long time of being drilled with the message that Pakistani heroines are supposed to be good girls who are supposed to fix the toxic men in their lives, we’re so glad that Anmol brought an un-yeilding woman like Mehru on our screens, who was never ready to go down without a fight.
