We have reached the middle of 2022 and already this has been a good year for the Pakistani entertainment industry with how our talent doesn’t just receive praises nationally but is also transcending borders. Songs like Pasoori were in the Spotify list of Top 50 songs, and then Arooj Aftab won a Grammy, and now Saim Sadiq’s film “Joyland” has received positive feedback as well as a 10 minute standing ovation at the Cannes film festival
Standing ovation for debuts can be so damn overwhelming … #joyland is a tender heartbreaker of a film … Reminding me of our own #Masaan back in 2015 … pic.twitter.com/LT1ILJzspo

This is an incredibly proud moment for Pakistani filmmakers that for the first time, a Pakistani film starring a transgender actress received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. And all Pakistanis reacted with tears of happiness and joy
Such a moment of pride to see #Joyland receive a standing ovation at Cannes, and the immense praise its received.
The doors this will open, the strength this will give to the new wave of Pakistani cinema. Just – wow.
Congratulations to the entire team.

In some good news: Standing ovation at @Festival_Cannes for our very own #Joyland
Love for the entire team! You’ve made Pakistan proud. For the Pakistani “film industry”: This is how you make a “film”. Speaks for itself. Stretched dramas padded with Bollywood chaapa aren’t it. https://t.co/OyVlj36VM2

Like the rest of Pakistanis we are super happy and over whelmed with how our talent is transcending international borders and giving proof that we are such talented and hard working people. Congratulations to the entire “Joyland” team, we hope that this is just the start, and there is more success to come soon.
