The smog crisis in Lahore has catapulted into a national crisis as the AQI now rests at 1000 according to Dawn. The government has taken a few steps to respond to the crisis by closing schools and colleges till Nov 18 as a thick layer of smog now rests over the city.

Celebrities are among the critics who are demanding the Punjab government to take strict action into resolving the crisis. Saba Qamar uploaded a caption on her Instagram stories where she reflected on how the current environmental crisis has made it difficult for people to breathe.

“Dear Lahore, I just want to breathe,” wrote the ‘Hindi Medium’ actress. “The smog is thick, suffocating and I can feel it in every breathe. For those with asthma, it’s more than just discomfort it’s a struggle to live each moment. Please, clear skies, come back soon.”

Other celebrities like Bilal Qureshi had a humorous but dark take on the smog as he posted in his Instagram stories.
