Veteran actress Saba Faisal was a guest on the morning show with hostess Nida Yasir, where she opened up about the past feuds in her own family had taught her to stop imposing her high expectations on others, and be more empathetic towards her daughter-in-laws.

Speaking about her son’s first marriage, the actress said she had high expectations about what her daughter-in-law would be like when her son got married five years ago.

“I only thought about myself and my happiness. I never thought that the new daughter-in-law who is coming from a different family, what would she be thinking?” said the ‘Habs’ actress.

The ‘Samjhota’ actress reflected on watching the relationship between her own mother and her sister-in-laws growing up, who had immediately settled into their new lifestyle, and had been taught how to cook by her own mother. Which is why she decided it wasn’t such a big issue if her own daughter in law wasn’t prepared on how to take on the role of a bahu, and decided to help her along the way.

“But I didn’t prepare myself to be a good mother-in-law because I set high expectations on her…For instance if guests would come over, we would set everything like prepare the food, switch on the ac, make a serene atmosphere. But every family is different and has a different way of bringing up their children.”

The veteran actress explained that her daughter-in-law came from a different environment which is why she and Saba had clashed in the beginning, for which the actress said she blames herself because she should have not imposed her standards on the new daughter-in-law.
