Veteran actress Hina Dilpazeer was a guest on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast ‘Excuse Me’ where she revealed the shockingly low pay the celebrated comedian received while starring in one of her most celebrated shows ‘Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah’, which ran from 2012 to 2014.
Speaking on the podcast, the ‘Bulbulay’ actress revealed she was initially hired to play three or four characters in the slow, which slowly began adding up as they began adding more characters to the script.
“When they couldn’t find a new actor for the script, they would tell me to play the character,” revealed Hina. “I was left perplexed that how would I do this, how many new faces do I need to make?”
Hina revealed that despite playing an extraordinary number of characters on the show, she was still paid the salary of one actor.
“They were testing my patience and I hate it,” joked the actor.
The ‘Yeh Zindagi Hai’ actress said she had to play a total number of 25 characters for the show, out of which only 5 were male. She recalled that there was an episode for which three of her episodes sat together in a rickshaw. This episode was shot in over three days. Hina chuckled that to this day she still hasn’t re-watched that episode thinking “Oh God what did I do?”
When asked about why didn’t she demand a higher salary for her performances, Hina recalled how when she did raise this question, the producers would complain about their poverty to her. “But when the show shut down, that same producer kept chasing me saying that we’re taking this show to another channel, would you still be with us. I said ‘No thank you I’m done’.”
Hina expressed her displeasure over how the show was abruptly shut down by the government, recalling how the television channel sent and order to shut down the serial. By the time it had ended, ‘Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah’ had over 400 episodes.
