From Karachi to Harvard: Jayant Kumar becomes first Pakistani to win the Harvard Crimson Business Competition

Karachi’s Jayant Kumar becomes the first Pakistani to win the Harvard Crimson Business Competition, with his project on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the chemical industry. In an interview with Geo News, he shared his vision for his project and the overwhelming response to his win.

While discussing his project, Jayant said he is working to use AI to support research and development in the chemical industry. He said that he has developed an AI program that streamlines research and development for chemical manufacturers, who can now move towards green chemicals with his platform; they can find healthier, cheaper alternatives. He added that through his program, chemical manufacturers can not only become sustainable but also cost-efficient. He also said that his program will allow chemical manufacturers to produce products that meet international quality standards and move towards exports.

Jayant also shared the support he found during the competition and gave credit to Karachi Grammar School’s principal as he worked on developing his program. He said that while he was given complete support, his academic workload was also eased by his school. When asked how he found out about the competition, he said he received an email inviting him to participate. He added that he has been participating in similar competitions on a national level as well.

Jayant’s global win has left the country proud; congratulating him on his victory, Pakistan’s First Lady, Asifa Bhutto Zardari posted on X and said:
