The Legend of Maula Jatt may have taken it’s sweet time to get to the Cinema screens but the end product shows that it deserved nothing less than a cinematic release. We haven’t seen one negative comment about the movie even from the harshest critics. Director Bilal Lashari has already proved his mettle in the industry which naturally makes the audience to have even higher expectations. The Legend of Maula Jatt not only meets those expectations but goes above and beyond. The entire team deserves appreciation but for this feature we dedicate our efforts to highlight the Costume design by Fahad Hussayn for the male actors.
Fahad Hussayn is known for his ‘out of the box’, ‘original’ and ‘edgy’ aesthetic. He and his team have left us spellbound with the craftsmanship that is on display in the film. It’s true to the essence of the film yet has the nuances of the Fahad Hussayn aesthetic. Fahad took to his Instagram to shed light on what went behind the curation of the costumes. From his student in Bangladesh managing the natural dyeing of costumes to artisans in Kanari Bazaar in Lahore in charge for the silver work and him borrowing heirloom pieces from his Mom, there was an entire team that contributed in providing that professional finesse on display in the cinemas. From the drama to the the grunge, the scale of such a mega film asks for a lot from the costume design team especially when each character has a screaming personality of their own. Fahad with his authenticity and sincerity to the craft aces the project like a true couturier.
“@maulajattofficial the legend of Maula Jutt is not a film, it’s a trajectory, thanks to the vision of @bilal_lashari & the generous production of @ammarahikmat & @asadjkhan , this project housed, nurtured, and provided artists an opportunity to show the world that we have the talent, we just need to be trusted with it”, said Fahad Hussayn on his Instagram post.
He further said “It was truly an honor to be a part of this project and today I want to thank all the special people I saw working day and night, jumping hoops to make all this happen!
I’m extremely proud to have shared this historic moment in Pakistani cinema with you. In these hard times, we all need a good sense of belonging. So this is it, Maula Jutt belongs to all of us. Please go watch and support your people and your industry. We earned it hard and square!”
The Legend of Maula Jatt has helped the Pakistan Cinema transcend into a new realm, showing how the craft is at par with International excellence. We are so proud of the entire team.
