Former Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar is getting backlash on social media for his regressive views regarding women gaining financial independence. Sports reporter Murtaza Ali Shah shared a clip of the former cricketer lamenting how divorce rates have increased by 30 per cent because women were given freedom to work outside of their homes and remain financially independent.

Anwar spoke about how he met the Australian mayor who told him that their culture broke down when women were granted the permission to work outside of their homes.

Anwar also said he met the top cricket players from New Zealand and Australia who asked him how to fix the issues in their culture. He said women were quick to break off marriages because they have found the ability to work on their own.

Since the video was uploaded on social media, users have slammed Anwar for his regressive views towards working women.
