A controversy regarding the ethics of arts and the rights of artists has taken over social media. An artist from Ghotki shared that his painting was stolen by Frere Hall Karachi, and which he later spotted in an episode of the drama ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’

Seffy Soomro originally made the post in the group Voice Of Customer where he revealed that in 2017 his painting was originally put up for display in Frere Hall Karachi, but he was informed later that his work was stolen and the building could not recover them. Seffy wrote that he had accepted this reality and moved on, but was outraged after spotting his lost paintings in episode 17 of the currently airing drama ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’.

“I was lied to and told that they had lost my paintings,” wrote Seffy. “This means my paintings were stolen and later sold ahead to some agency for profit without me being given any credit even though I am the owner of these paintings.”

Seffy revealed that the paintings were a part of his thesis project which he had submitted to the University of Sindh, and had proof of this.

Attached to the post was also a clip from the episode where the actors can be seen admiring the painting.

Seffy’s post attracted a lot of outrage from social media, with many expressing their disgust towards how Frere Hall had robbed the artist’s paintings without giving him any due credit or profit.

Big Bang Entertainment responds after the backlash grows.
