Arshad Nadeem bags first ever medal for Pakistan in World Athletics

The Javelin throw champion created history with a super throw of 87.82 meters.

Pakistan’s Javelin throw champion Arshad Nadeem creates history becoming the first Pakistani athlete to win a Silver medal in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, on Sunday.

Nadeem achieved the mark with a super throw of 87.82 meters in the men’s javelin throw final of the global event in Budapest, Hungary.

Arshad, who had returned into international circuit after one year due to fitness issues, displayed excellent form in the crowded stadium showing up at the top of his group. It was a battle between Arshad and Neeraj Chopra  from India, after both won in their respective groups in the qualification process day.

 Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra of India became the greatest athlete in the Indian sports history, securing the a gold with a throw of 88.17 metres. Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic with a throw of 86.67 meters claimed bronze in the enthralling event.

Support and encouragement poured in from all parts of Pakistan for Arshad Nadeem, as the country celebrates its first ever Medal in World Athletics.
