Film and TV actress and model Armeena Khan was recently awarded for outstanding public service in the UK, and where many congratulated her on this big achievement, not surprisingly there was a large percentage of social media users who responded in a manner that was disappointing and distasteful.
While haters will be haters, and we don’t wish to pay any attention to those who only believe in dulling out the achievements and happiness of others, it was Armeena‘s response to all the hate that caught our attention this time.
The Pakistani Canadian media personality talked about the lack of boundaries people feel they need to exercise and adhere to, when it comes to speaking about women. It is not uncommon that we see people whether on the internet or otherwise, feeling free to completely tear down a woman’s character and professional achievements at will. On the other hand however, thankfully we are not as harsh when it comes to men, and even while criticizing them, do tend to retain some boundaries and limitations.
In such an environment, as women, no matter how far we go in life and how much we manage to achieve, it becomes important to continuously keep reminding ourselves that we are not a product of others’ opinions of us. And to see unnecessary and criticism for being a result of the frustration others feel with themselves, rather than being a response to something we may have caused.
With that said, Congratulations are in order for Armeena Khan upon being recognized for outstanding public service in Britain. All hail the Queen! ššš©°
