The charismatic all-rounder Shahid Afridi is all set to contribute to education of females in Pakistan through his foundation’s corporate social responsibility program #BaanteyKhushiyan, which will now be partnering with an international icecream brand.
After becoming a father to five beautiful daughters, this seems like a huge improvement from the Shahid Afridi in old interviews who easily took it upon himself to remind Pakistani women that their skills are most useful in the kitchen, with a TV interview footage which showed the big-hitter praising women’s cooking skills in response to a question whether women should play cricket. Later, the cricketer reportedly insisted that his remarks about women’s cricket have been taken out of ‘context’ and the player has sought to bat away the controversy surrounding the issue.
Also known as “Boom Boom” Afridi because of his explosive batting style, the batsman will be contributing to education in Pakistan for a second year. The icecream brand, with every double scoop purchase, will donate Rs. 5 to enroll out of school girls into quality education systems to ensure for all.
