While Ahsan Khan plays the notorious Tabish in Aap Ki Izzat, he has come forward as a champion of women’s rights and their autonomy in marriage in real life. In an interview with Something Haute, Ahsan Khan opened up about his views on second marriages, cheating, and mistreatment of women in relationships. Speaking about his character in Aap Ki Izzat, he said that there are many men like Tabish in our society who choose to marry a second time instead of working on their current relationship. He said many men make the excuse that their wives are outdated, while they should be the ones ensuring that they walk hand-in-hand.

Sharing personal experiences, he said that he always preaches that men should support their wives after marriage so they can work toward a healthy relationship. He added that if men believe they have moved ahead in life emotionally and physically, and have better exposure, they should ensure their wives’ path to success as well instead of finding new partners who fit their ‘standard’ now.

Ahsan added that women are not bound to be stuck building households, caring for the children and parents while men go around enjoying their lives. One must honor and respect the effort and hard work women put in creating a home, he said. Sharing his personal experience, he added that instead of questioning your wife’s worth, you should ensure that she can walk with you hand in hand. He further added that men in society are under the illusion that they are the anchor of the family by fulfilling financial responsibilities, yet reality is far beyond it.
