Take us on a creative adventure! What quirky sources of inspiration do you tap into for Daivi’s designs? Any unexpected muses?
For this collection there was, I would say, an overwhelming dose of inspiration! From Parsi aristocracy, Tamil brides as well as looking closely at Sindhi and Kutchi handwork along with Memoni silhouette intervention. My muse was the source of each of the above and yesteryear.
Daivi blends timeless charm with a modern appeal! What’s your secret sauce for achieving that perfect balance? Is there a favorite color combo you’re obsessed with right now for a mehendi or sangeet bride? How did you incorporate that in the collection?
I like mixing elements, but never to absolution. Holding back is key to achieve balance. I believe that incorporating just the right amount will help towards capturing any creative vision.
I would say I’m definitely leaning towards warm tones of burnt orange, mustard and mehendi green this season for a traditional mehendi bride.
It’s a competitive bridal market, how do you manage to reinvent and stand out in it?
By not following the herd and doing the opposite!
Let’s talk about the 2024/2025 bride! How do you think she’s flipping the script on traditional bridal wear? Any cool trends, cuts or silhouettes on the horizon that you stand by?
I’m all for the traditional bride! I’ll stick to traditional silhouettes of ghararas, farshis, Hyderabadi kurtas, churidaars and khara dupattas this season (and possibly forever!)
With so many exquisite ensembles in Daivi, do you have a favorite piece that makes your heart skip a beat? What makes it special?
Parinaaz is my favourite! It was designed with Trinette in mind.
What delightful surprises can the brides and her tribe expect in the collection? Any unexpected details or playful elements that will make them go “that’s new”?
The sarees in the collection are draped and styled very differently. It’s ‘new’ with a sense of nostalgia.
