After her statement about being a victim of domestic violence, Faryal Gohar appeared on Hungama with Hina on We News to elaborate on her statement as well as stand by her claim. She stated that she had only told the truth and that she will continue to open up about violence against women. She accused her former husband, Jamal Shah, of having an extramarital affair while she was expecting. She said that she had gone through multiple miscarriages because of the treatment she had at home.

Faryal further elaborated that she belongs to a family of learned women and does not want to remain relevant by making claims; she has medical records and witnesses to support her. She added that Jamal does not recall the miscarriage she had because he had been unavailable as a husband; he was then involved with another woman. She added that she continues to admire his work; however, the hurt and betrayal she suffered cannot be whitewashed.

She ended her conversation about Jamal by saying he has moved on in life and has children; therefore, she would like to remember him in good words and hold on to the happy memories they shared. She also opened up about her work as an advocate for women’s rights at the United Nations and shared her work regarding child sexual abuse in Pakistan.

Faryal is a renowned Pakistan novelist, actress and screenwriter; she has noteable performances in Chand Grehan, Chandni Raatien and Aahat. Her award winning novels include The Scent of Wet Earth in August and No Space for Further Burials.
