In the Mom, the podcast on Green Entertainment, Zara Noor Abbas opened up about how women have to face weight-related comments after giving birth. She added that women should not take these comments and shut sh people down instantly. She said that women are given the honor of creating a life, which should be honored, instead of people blatantly passing comments on their weight gain. She added that while women have achieved in life and touched the moon, this society is still fixated on their weight.

Zara also shared her personal experience of a cashier at an ice cream store being shocked to see her after childbirth. She said the person casually mentioned she had gained weight without hesitation, which led her to a breakdown. Later, upon her husband’s urging, she confronted the man and told him not to make insensitive comments, especially towards new mothers, because you do not know what they are already going through.

She also added that we must learn to be kind to new mothers and understand that postpartum depression is real and women, too, should take it seriously. She said that one must always seek professional help if need be; therapy and medication can help in the postpartum period.
