While appearing on a podcast, The Light Within, Saima Qureshi has opened up about how women should learn to remain out of their children’s lives after marriage. She explained that women need to step down from household authority once their children are married, as they are unable to let go of it. She said that sometimes moving a piece of furniture can spark a quarrel, because women are unable to let go of the control they have over the household.

Elaborating on her point of view, she added that as people age, they have less to do, which shifts their focus to children and daughters-in-law and opens up a plethora of complaints. She added that society has imposed the idea that old age makes us handicapped, yet age is just a number. She further added that while traveling abroad, she has noticed that the older the person, the more active they are; she has seen elderly women roaming the aisles of shopping malls in high heels, with no care in the world.

Similarly, in our society, our elderly should find hobbies for themselves. This would enable them to remain busy and focus less on the lives of their children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. Elderly people should create a social circle and use their skills in a productive way.

Saima Qureshi is a veteran actress currently appearing in the drama serial Ghulam Basha Sundari. She is known for her remarkable performances in Mera Susraal, Dolly Ki Supper Family, Aitraaf, and Nand.
