Hira Mani has found acclaim after the recent episode of Sharpasand, where her character, Shazmeen, has proved to be a woman of power and strength. Firasat (played by Nauman Ijaz) has found himself in a fix as Shazmeen attempts to expose him and his fraudulent activities. Shazmeen, an independent banker, strikes back at the mischievous old property dealer who has been selling property without proper paperwork. He who has been portraying himself as a pious man is finally being exposed through a woman who had been accused of being immoral.

So far in Sharpsand, Firasat and his wife, Rubina (played by Nadia Afghan), live in a toxic neighbourhood and like to spread rumours about people to make things work in their favour. Their easy targets are young, independent women who live their lives to their own will. They take advantage of the neighbourhood’s trust in them and their words, leading the neighbourhood to disrupt normalcy for their targets.

Shazmeen has bounced back with full force despite all the backlash she has faced from the neighbourhood because of  Firasat, who has been telling everyone she is immoral because she is a working woman living independently with men dropping off at her place. The fiasco with the neighbours led to the end of her engagement, proving how easily we form biases against independent working women in our society.

The portrayal of a man as a miscreant makes this drama serial different from the rest. Writer, Mahwash Ajaz said:
